OK, we were not going to watch Dancing With The Stars (DWTS). We had no idea who most of the "stars" were. Then our DVR recorded it from last year's season pass. So we watched it. And of course we are hooked.
One problem, there are very few real stars. Who are these people? Kirstie Alley, Sugar Ray Leonard we know. But DWTS seems to not worry about who is really a star. They have a DJ, a wrestler, some Disney actress, and other minor celebrities. Maybe younger people know who they are.
Marty and I love to watch people dance. Therefore we will be watching this show that is our guilty pleasure. Some of these people are trainable. Some are just sad. They clunk around worse than I would. Interestingly, one of the better one is the wrestler. He is impressive.
Now I need to learn names so I can tell you who we are rooting for.

We caved
Marty and I were not, repeat, were not going to watch Dancing With The Stars this season. The people on it are just ridiculous. Some of the stars are Bristol Palin, The Situation, David Hasselhoff, Audrina Patridge, Florence Henderson. These are not stars, maybe Mrs. Brady was and sort of still is. But this is a C- list of stars, and then Bristol Palin. Please, Bristol is famous for being an unwed mother. A lot of the people we had never heard of including the sports stars. ( The only sports we do is college basketball, our nephew, Kiel Turpin.). BUT the DVR recorded 3 hours because it was set up from last season.
Tonight we decided to watch the Monday and Tuesday shows. We quickly went through the dancing and the result shows. (We watched three hours of this show in one hour. No commercials, no filler, no background.) We thought after tonight we would delete the setting because it was going to be just awful. We watched the dancing/judging, no rehearsals, no fluff, no background stories. We were surprised. Damn, some of these people were good. And if not really good they showed potential and were highly entertaining.
We will watch next week.

DANCING WITH THE STARS, KATE, UGH
Tonight Marty and I fast forwarded through everything on DWTS except the dancing and the scores. We just could not stand to watch the feuding and fighting during the rehearsals. Yet even zipping through the rehearsals highlights, Kate's death stare came through. This woman has a sh*t load of hate in her.
Her dance night was awful. Last week she seemed a little bit like she was dancing. Tonight Bruno said she was catatonic. And that was one of the nicer things said by the judges. SHE MUST GO HOME! It is so painful watching her stiff performance.
That said, I bet her fans will keep her on the show another week.

DWTS and AMERICAN IDOL
Last night the results of DWTS were given. We didn't get to watch it until tonight. Guess what, terrible Kate did not get voted off. She of the death stare of hatred will live to dance another week. This woman is flat out scary.
Aiden Turner, a soap actor, was sent home. I don't really care about him. But we will miss his pro partner, Edyta Sliwinska. She almost wears clothes when she dances. Edyta really is a fabulous dancer.
This week on AI was Elvis week. Let us say if he wasn't already dead, this show would have killed him. So very bad. Most of the singers were pitiful. Tonight AI eliminated 2 singers and I was more than happy with America's choice. Andrew Garcia and Katie Stevens went home. Big Mike is still there and not even in the bottom 3, so the save of last week was validated by the public.
No one on either show has sparked us to bother to vote. Such a difference from other years. We voted as many times as they would let us. Maybe they have run their course.

DWTS and AMERICAN IDOL
I wrote last week about how disappointed I have been with American Idol and Dancing With The Stars. And then yesterday my friend Sue wrote on her blog about DWTS. She is loving the season, but like me, wants Buzz Aldrin and Kate Gosselin gone.
Last night was the result show for Dancing With The Stars. Sue and I are happy. Buzz was sent home. Now if only Kate is sent home next week.
Tonight was the result show for AI. One of my favorites, Big Mike, was the person with the lowest votes. He would have to "sing for his life". That means he was allowed to pick a song and sing one more time. The four judges would vote on whether he would be saved to sing again next week. The judges can only use this save one time per season. And the vote must be unanimous. They hardly ever use this save, so I didn't have much hope. Well, Big Mike was incredible and they saved him. Much happiness at the Appel household.
The down side of this, probably next week two will be eliminated. They have only so many weeks to do the show. They have to only have two singers on the last show, not three. Oh well.

AMERICAN IDOL and DANCING WITH THE STARS
A friend emailed today and wanted to know why I haven't commented on AI or DWTS. If you remember last year I gave reports regularly. Well, this year I don't feel the love for either show.
American Idol:
I can not believe the good if not possibly great singers were voted off the first couple of weeks. And the awful, terrible, boring, just plain bad singers have stayed. This is a year of multiple Sanjayas. America just keeps voting for bad singers. The two or three singers we like are not really goose bump worthy. At least tonight all of the bottom three needed to go home. Too bad they could only send Didi home.
Dancing With the Stars:
Where do I begin? I guess with our American hero, Buzz Aldrin. Yes, he is an icon of space travel. Yes, we admire him. But he is 80 years old and it is painful watching him dance. He can't dance, and I bet when he was 25 he couldn't dance. But America won't send him home for a long time. Others dancers are really poor and they weren't even in the bottom two. We have reality star Kate Gosselin who is worse than Buzz. He at least is a nice person. After watching this week I can see why Jon left her. She is so hateful her pro partner quit the show and walked out. He later came back, probably couldn't get out of his contract. We have a football star (I guess he is a star, I don't do football) who looks clumsy.
It was interesting watching the tapes of rehearsal. Most of the stars were arguing and being prima donnas with the pros. I haven't seen this before. Think about it, people who can't walk and chew gum are telling professional dancers how to teach dance. And they are complaining about how hard dancing is. Well, yes, it is as physically hard as playing football, tennis, and most other sports.
We will probably keep watching. And I will keep bitching.

DID YOU SEE IT? DWTS YUCK
Marty and I are outraged! Dancing With the Stars audience vote elimanated the second rated dancers, Joanna Krupa and Derek Hough. That left Mya (who is excellent and rated #1), Kelly Osbourne, and Donny Osmond. Donny is not real good, Kelly is better. Either one could have gone home and no big difference.
But Derek and Joannna, so graceful, so good looking, so professional in their dances. Boo, Baa Humbug. I am ticked. Marty is too, just a little.

DWTS and American Idol
Last night on Dancing With The Stars we had a shocker. The sweet bull rider, Ty, was NOT eliminated. Lil Kim was. He is sweet, he is cute, but he is not a great dancer. Even he was stunned not to go. I know I don't post on this show, but last night was just strange.
Now to American Idol. We had four left: Kris, Adam, Allison, and Danny. Last night Adam blew them away. He was absolutely fabulous. Allison was great. Kris did well, and Danny was awful, in my opinion. Marty thought he was OK. And who is safe? Adam, Kris, and damn it to hell Danny. The rocker girl, Allison, will go home. But I am sure we will hear more from her. She is one talented young woman.
Next week, we will find out the final two. My guess, Adam and Kris. Take that with a grain of salt. So far I haven't been right real often.
