ONE THOUSAND POSTS!

October 27, 2008 I posted my first blog.  I felt a need to write and knew I wasn't good enough or disciplined enough to write a book.  I was going to write for me, and hope to entertain a few people.  I have not picked up lots of readers, but that is OK.  The ones who read me seem to like what I am doing.  And I enjoy writing.

I have posted pictures of events we have gone to, testing recipes, parties, building a storage shed, hospital pictures, and updates on weight loss.  I have written rants on bicyclists with a death wish, some political views, and mostly about weddings and first graders.  I write what's happening to me or mine.

This is to show you a picture before A-Fib and diabetes changed my life.  I was just a little fluffy.  This is from an anniversary celebration for Marty and me year or so ago.

This picture was taken last weekend in Monterey Dunes.  Marty and I are on the left,  Hank (Little Brother) and Ann are on the right.  I'm not quite as fluffy as the picture above this one.

One Thousand posts, that is writing about a lot of stuff.  My readers probably know me better than some family members.  That's right, some family members don't read my fabulous blog (the non-readers are not immediate blood kin).  Their loss.  I will continue to write as long as I am able.  If you remember I have posted during the great drama of multiple diagnoses, selling a house, and moving. I keep on writing whatever is going on. There will be drama, humor, sadness, happiness, I will tell you about my life as a youthful senior citizen.

I hope you will continue with me, maybe you'll even share my posts on Facebook.  Yes, I am vain and want more readers, more likes, more comments.  If you have questions about what I do , like, support, tell me and I will try to respond.  If you want to, share the date of your favorite post.  I think that would be interesting to know.

Thank you for hanging in there with me.

Would have been a rant

When I began blogging, I planned to write about weddings, school, and to rant.  I have a temper and sometimes I need to express it.  Writing seemed a safe way to tell people off.  Nobody was going to read the stuff I wrote.  Well it seems I do have readers.  Many readers don't sign up as followers or comment.  How do I know they read my blog, they LIKE me on Facebook, they tell me in person, or they tell Marty.  You all, that cuts down on my rants against idiots you may know.

This morning I was in tears over a very hurtful omission.  I blasted an email to the one in charge.  I was ready to tell all on Facebook and my blog.  Then I thought, no  I know too many people that would hurt. I know who screwed up and not the first time.  Sadly not for the last time either.  Why should I be surprised?  Still it was hurtful and I will not forgive or forget.

So having nice readers makes me be nicer on my blog.  Damn, I was all fired up to cuss and everything.

Finishing up the week

Wednesday there were only 2 weddings and not worth a whole blog.  They may show up next week. Thursday I did what I call a lick and a promise house cleaning.  I pretended I was a Molly Maid and hit the middle, because we know they don't bend over and they won't get on a step stool.   Friday I did do something a little interesting, to me anyway.

I kept clicking Next Blog at the top of the blogs.  There are some really awful blogs out there, folks.  Now I understand mine is average at best, but oh my word.  I had ended up in the Mommy Blogs.  There was the perfectly staged shot of the 3 beautiful children and dog with Mommy and Daddy. The perfect day, the cute sayings.  I tried to read them.  I just couldn't. The blogs were so syrupy about the cute fun things everyone did.  Every minute of the day was wonderful.  Only sunshine and light.  I do not believe the Mommys, I can't believe it.

I taught elementary school for years and still volunteer in a school. I know children. I have a son who I let live only because I love him so much. Once he and the neighbor kid walked on my couch in muddy shoes.  That is what little boys do.  I locked him out of the house so I wouldn't kill him. That same couch had chocolate rubbed into it by my nephew the Colonel. This wasn't recent, the Colonel was 5 when this happened.  I became the queen of spot removal.

Children are holy terrors.  They rip holes in their clothes.  Children do embarrassing things.  They get dirty.  They throw up on you.  They break your heart.  And they run in the house, grab you and say I love you, Mom.  That is why it is all worth it.

There is one blog that I have been reading for several weeks,  It has a Mommy and it has children.  But it is different. This woman is fun as is her family.  She writes about a real life.  She loves her children and shows it.  She also shares problems.  Give German Village Mom a try.   She is addictive.

MAKING COMMENTS ON MY BLOG

Several friends have written me and said they like my Blog. Thank you, thank you very much. But they don't know how to make comments on the blog. They are Blog virgins. I have some directions that I think will work.

Basically you click until it tells you it works. After you post, the comment comes to me and I decide if it should be posted or not. I have not deleted anyone, yet. I want to protect the site from weirdos. Some strange people do come out of the wood work. I don't want filth on my site, I am protecting you, my readers from icky people. You are allowed to disagree with me. In fact one poster has. I just want to keep it clean.

To reply to the blog, click on comments, then write your note in the comment box, select a profile, most people just click name and fill in your name, ( some of the pull downs I have no idea what they are, I must ask Erik ) unless you have a Google account then click on the google, ignore the URL unless you have a website, if so put in the link, click on post, then type in the word verification and then finish. It is a little complicated, but really not that hard. The second and third time will be easier.

Also at the end of the post it says interesting, funny, cool. You just click on one and it ups the count. It really isn't hard. Just try it.

I do want comments. They help me know what to write. It also feeds my ego. I check about a hundred times a day to see if anyone commented or checked a box. I need the feedback to be sure you like me. So comment, agree or disagree, just read me and comment. Send the link to your friends, and tell them to comment. You all can tear the post apart. Just let me know you are there. Of course if you are harsh I will cry. But at least you are reading me.

Also, check out the Blogs I follow: drinks, comments on life, and mysteries; fun, interesting and all about mysteries.
