And the rest of my week went better

My last blog post I shared my shopping trip and my near collapse.  I have recovered from doing too much, and had a pretty good week.

The rest of the week, I didn't do much, watched idiot TV, read a little and played various games of solitaire.   I also cooked with Marty, did dishes, and walked 30 minutes every day. I didn't walk today, church takes a lot of energy.  I have the 30 + minute drive, the service, and today we were checking out the demo for our sanctuary remodel.  A lot of standing and walking, I had a little ankle swelling which always scares me a little.  After legs up in the recliner, the swelling went down.

All in all, I am OK.  I don't hurt, not real nauseated, no trips to the ER.

Tomorrow I have my monthly appointment with my oncologist.  I will tell her about the trouble shopping.  Also I will let her know my recovery was fairly quick.  There probably isn't much she can do about me ignoring warning signs from my body. I will be more careful and maybe ask for a wheelchair when I go shopping.  Maybe I have reached a point where I can't do shopping without help.

We will see.  Tuesday after chemo, Kirsten is taking shopping for shoes.  Keep your fingers crossed.

I Have Had a Good Week

Sunday for Mother's Day our son took us out for brunch.  He had found a very neat place that I would have just passed by.  As they say don't judge a book by its cover.  We ate at the Handlebar, those of you in the Bay Area might want to try it. We all loved the food. I highly recommend the Bloody Mary's.

As you can see we enjoyed our drinks.  Erik with a Mimosa, Marty and I had the very spicy Bloody Mary's.  Yes we had food too.

                                                            A better picture of us.

After we ate, we went to the Berkeley Marina to take more pictures and to freeze.  It was a cold, windy, gray day.  Really windy as you can tell from Erik's messed hair.

Wednesday I saw my primary care doctor.  This was a follow up from the trip to the ER a couple of weeks ago.  (that was for spiking blood pressure)  After tweaking my meds, my blood pressure is in the normal range again.  He was pleased with how well I am doing.  He had one question on a medicine he wants me to ask my oncologist about.  He doesn't think I need to take it.  I am all for taking fewer pills.

That afternoon was Erik's time to come help us with domestic duties.  He cleaned, did laundry, and moved furniture.  And we had a lovely visit.  He is a huge help to us, physically and emotionally.  Love you Little Boy.

Friday good friend Pat picked me up for breakfast.  Her son ate with us, then he went to an appointment and we went shopping.  Mostly we were looking, and then I found some cute pajamas, so I bought them.

Then we went to another store and I found several purses that needed to come home with me.  Well until I picked them up.  Most of them were too heavy even empty for me to consider.  Then I found a leather (probably not real) hobo bag that was light as a feather.  Soft as a baby's butt.  It also had all kinds of pockets, zippers, compartments, it is great.  As we were headed to pay, I saw it.  The perfect carryon bag.  It has red leather and a leopard design.  It is in your face and only a secure woman could carry this bag.  Lots of pockets:  it will hold my laptop, all my meds, and probably three days of clothing.  I love it.   It came home with me too.

It was great to be strong enough to shop.  I walked for a over an hour and I wasn't exhausted. Tired, but not a huge problem.  It was a lovely time with Pat.  She makes me laugh, gets my black humor, and takes such good care of me.  I had such a good time, thanks Pat.  Friends like that are hard to find.

It was a very good week.  And tomorrow I will get to go to church for the first time since October.  I have already put out the gloves and mask I will wear.  Yep, knock wood, things are going pretty good.

Wonderful Week!!!

My brother and his wife, Hank and Ann, flew in last Saturday and left at 6:00 this morning.  We have had a great, wonderful, laughing good time.  Because we are a one bathroom one bedroom apartment they didn't sleep at our place.  A dear friend who lives close by hosted them, plus loaned them a car to get back and forth to our place.

It was my off week from Chemo, so I was feeling pretty peppy. A couple of days they took me shopping for  a coat, sweaters and shoes. Now every woman knows that shopping is work.  Lots of walking back and forth looking for the perfect thing.  I can walk, I can even shop a little bit without help.  But this was a massive event.  No way could I walk for hours.  I poop out after a while.  How could I do this?  And the answer came from Ann, wheel chair.  I said no, that would make me too pathetic looking, plus I didn't' want to buy or rent a chair.  Again Ann to the rescue.  Did you know if you ask for a wheel chair at most stores, they will loan you one?

They rolled me all over Macy's and Nordstrom's Rack.  I now have sweaters, a winter coat, and shoes that fit.  After a 100 pound weight loss, I was desperate for shoes that would stay on my feet. I even bought some killer boots.  We had fun and accomplished our goal, getting me warm clothing.

Another day we went to the jewelry store.  My wedding rings will not stay on my fingers.  So I am having several rings resized.  I have missed wearing my rings.  Next week I will get them back.  I am really excited about wearing then again.

Every day we went out for breakfast after our trip to Kaiser for my white cell shot.  Some times I ate before we went, others I ate with the family.  I always had hot chocolate.  Come join us and I will take you on a tour for the best hot chocolate out there.

Shopping, Happy Dance!

My weight loss has continued.  Again my clothes are getting baggy.  Shopping therapy is called for.

I needed dress slacks, shoes, and jeans.  I have reached the goal weight I hope to be able to maintain for ever.  Maybe if I write that I will stick to being healthy. Today Marty and I went shopping.  This is why he is a keeper, he will search racks for me while I try on clothes. Plus he pushes me to wear colors other than red and black.  Thanks, Marty.

I have lost so much weight my shoes are all too wide.  I am back to wearing narrows, which few stores carry.  So no luck there.  I guess I will have to go to an upscale shoe department and pay too much money.

But fancy jeans and dress slacks he found for me.  I need a petite length now that I am considered short. Not sure how that happened, I always was the tall girl in the back row of school pictures.  Also I now wear a size 10, instead of a 20.  I can't remember ever wearing a size 10.  Not real sure sizing is the same as when I was a teenager.  But 10 makes me happy.

Happy Dance has begun!
