Last night the results of DWTS were given. We didn't get to watch it until tonight. Guess what, terrible Kate did not get voted off. She of the death stare of hatred will live to dance another week. This woman is flat out scary.
Aiden Turner, a soap actor, was sent home. I don't really care about him. But we will miss his pro partner, Edyta Sliwinska. She almost wears clothes when she dances. Edyta really is a fabulous dancer.
This week on AI was Elvis week. Let us say if he wasn't already dead, this show would have killed him. So very bad. Most of the singers were pitiful. Tonight AI eliminated 2 singers and I was more than happy with America's choice. Andrew Garcia and Katie Stevens went home. Big Mike is still there and not even in the bottom 3, so the save of last week was validated by the public.
No one on either show has sparked us to bother to vote. Such a difference from other years. We voted as many times as they would let us. Maybe they have run their course.

DWTS and AMERICAN IDOL
I wrote last week about how disappointed I have been with American Idol and Dancing With The Stars. And then yesterday my friend Sue wrote on her blog about DWTS. She is loving the season, but like me, wants Buzz Aldrin and Kate Gosselin gone.
Last night was the result show for Dancing With The Stars. Sue and I are happy. Buzz was sent home. Now if only Kate is sent home next week.
Tonight was the result show for AI. One of my favorites, Big Mike, was the person with the lowest votes. He would have to "sing for his life". That means he was allowed to pick a song and sing one more time. The four judges would vote on whether he would be saved to sing again next week. The judges can only use this save one time per season. And the vote must be unanimous. They hardly ever use this save, so I didn't have much hope. Well, Big Mike was incredible and they saved him. Much happiness at the Appel household.
The down side of this, probably next week two will be eliminated. They have only so many weeks to do the show. They have to only have two singers on the last show, not three. Oh well.

AMERICAN IDOL and DANCING WITH THE STARS
A friend emailed today and wanted to know why I haven't commented on AI or DWTS. If you remember last year I gave reports regularly. Well, this year I don't feel the love for either show.
American Idol:
I can not believe the good if not possibly great singers were voted off the first couple of weeks. And the awful, terrible, boring, just plain bad singers have stayed. This is a year of multiple Sanjayas. America just keeps voting for bad singers. The two or three singers we like are not really goose bump worthy. At least tonight all of the bottom three needed to go home. Too bad they could only send Didi home.
Dancing With the Stars:
Where do I begin? I guess with our American hero, Buzz Aldrin. Yes, he is an icon of space travel. Yes, we admire him. But he is 80 years old and it is painful watching him dance. He can't dance, and I bet when he was 25 he couldn't dance. But America won't send him home for a long time. Others dancers are really poor and they weren't even in the bottom two. We have reality star Kate Gosselin who is worse than Buzz. He at least is a nice person. After watching this week I can see why Jon left her. She is so hateful her pro partner quit the show and walked out. He later came back, probably couldn't get out of his contract. We have a football star (I guess he is a star, I don't do football) who looks clumsy.
It was interesting watching the tapes of rehearsal. Most of the stars were arguing and being prima donnas with the pros. I haven't seen this before. Think about it, people who can't walk and chew gum are telling professional dancers how to teach dance. And they are complaining about how hard dancing is. Well, yes, it is as physically hard as playing football, tennis, and most other sports.
We will probably keep watching. And I will keep bitching.

HOLY CRAP!!!!!
We ate up American Idol tonight. We decided it didn't matter who won. They both are fabulous. The show itself was incredible. The first season they couldn't buy respectability. Tonight if you were in the music business and not on the show, you are a dud. Oh whata night!
This was entertainment at its best. Major stars in the audience. And on the stage just to name a few: Idol stars such as David Cook; this year's AI top 13; and then we had wonderful stars such as Fergie and the Black Eyed Peas, Rod Stewart, Lionel Richie, Queen Latifah, Keith Urban, Santana, Cyndi Lauper, Queen, and Kiss. Adam performed with Kiss and Kris performed with Keith Urban. They both sang with Queen.
If Kris wins, that is great. He is very talented. And that leaves Adam free to have control of his career. If Adam wins, great. He will record and have the incredible backing of a major brand. Who ever wins, music lovers win. This year we have real talent. Some years we just have fun and likability. Either man is a major talent. I really didn't care who won. I am impressed by both. But Adam is really my favorite.
And the winner is:
Kris Allen

American Idol
Tonight was the final sing off of American Idol. Kris and Adam each sang three songs. Simon said Adam took the first round, Kris the second, and Adam the third. Even though I am a huge, huge Adam fan, I will admit Kris is very good. It really is like comparing apples and oranges. Adam is the flamboyant singer, hard rock sometimes ballad singer. Kris is very quiet and low key. Even when he does rock songs, it is just quiet compared to Adam.
Tomorrow the verdict. Either one will be great as the winner. I almost want Kris to win. The winner is locked into a contract with American Idol for, I think, a year. Maybe Adam would be better off on his own. He would have control and not forced to do what AI wants him to do.
Anyway, I love Adam. The emotion from his songs will rip your heart out. He is the only one Marty and I would pay money to see.

AMERICAN IDOL
If you go back to last Wednesday night, I got it right. Adam and Chris. We have our two finalists. Chris has been the dark horse. I am not sure he should be there, he hasn't been consistent in his performances. But he has gotten stronger the last few weeks.
Any one of the three could have been eliminated. They were that good. Ryan said 86 million voted. And only 1 million separated the top two. We voted at least 10 times, so it isn't like 86 million voted. But last week it was only something like 36 million. So a lot of people were punching numbers into their phones.
Goodbye Danny.

DWTS and American Idol
Last night on Dancing With The Stars we had a shocker. The sweet bull rider, Ty, was NOT eliminated. Lil Kim was. He is sweet, he is cute, but he is not a great dancer. Even he was stunned not to go. I know I don't post on this show, but last night was just strange.
Now to American Idol. We had four left: Kris, Adam, Allison, and Danny. Last night Adam blew them away. He was absolutely fabulous. Allison was great. Kris did well, and Danny was awful, in my opinion. Marty thought he was OK. And who is safe? Adam, Kris, and damn it to hell Danny. The rocker girl, Allison, will go home. But I am sure we will hear more from her. She is one talented young woman.
Next week, we will find out the final two. My guess, Adam and Kris. Take that with a grain of salt. So far I haven't been right real often.

AMERICAN IDOL
Tonight they began with five and then there were four. Ryan put Kris and Matt on one side. He put Danny and Allison on the other. He then asked Adam which group he belonged in. That flustered Adam and he didn't want to answer. He finally said Danny and Allison. He walked to them and then Ryan said no, you are in the bottom three. Stand with Matt and Kris.
After lots of others singing, they came back to the point of the show. Who is going home? One of the bottom three is going to be safe. I knew it was going to be Adam. Even Matt and Kris seemed to think that. WRONG! Kris is safe. Matt and Adam, my favorite Adam, are the bottom two. How did Adam end up here? He is the odds on favorite to win the whole thing. I can't stand this. If Matt is safe and Adam goes home I will just spit. Then Ryan says, "Adam, you are safe." Thank goodness. Matt is gone.
But now we have only 4 left. It will be really ugly next week.

AMERICAN IDOL FIVE, ONLY FIVE
Tonight on AI they had a double elimination. Because they saved Matt last week, two had to go tonight. They did an elimination right off the bat, no build up, just bam, you are history. Lil Rounds is gone. She just never lived up to her potential. Then they had lots of singers from the disco era to entertain us. Since it was Tivoed, we fast forwarded through that. Then it started. Adam is safe, Anoop in the bottom two, Chris safe, Danny safe, Matt is safe damn, damn, damn. And that leaves Allison. She is in the bottom two. NOOOOOO, this can't be. She is as good as Adam. What is wrong with America?
Anoop and Allison are brought to the middle of the stage and it is announced who is going home. Anoop! Yes, yes, yes!
Next week will be awful. Five are left. And it looks like the public likes Matt, who I can't stand. Someone I really really like will be cut. That is the way it works, we can only have one Idol.

STILL SEVEN!!!
This is your American Idol report.
Last night AI ran over again, even with the revamping of the judging. They just need to cut the stupid lead in to each singer. The wonderful Adam brought the house down, Allison was sooooooooo wonderful. This is a 16 year old child and she has the stage presence of a seasoned performer, and her voice, oh my. Matt did great, even Anoop did well for a change. Chris or is it Kris?? was fabulous. And then there was Lil. Every week she gets worse. Danny was good as he consistently is.
Tonight your bottom three? Anoop, YAY! Lil, and Matt. At this stage with only 7, someone you like is going to be in the bottom three. Matt was good, even if I don't like him. Danny probably was not as good as Matt on this particular night. But Americans vote for lots of reasons: voice, past history, this performance, good looks, sad life.
They announced that Anoop was safe. Damn, damn, damn. He HAS to go home. Last week after shrugging off Kris ( they were the bottom two and Kris tried to hug Anoop in a we will get through this way last week) in a very rude way, his arrogance is up my nose. And he mouths off in a very rude way to the judges.
Lil and Matt hold each other and it is Matt who is in the bottom. He sings for the chance to be saved. Marty and I say he needs to go, even tho Lil was worse. He is not consistent. Simon says Matt you can't win this contest. Lots of boos. And then they use their one time save. Matt is safe.
Next week TWO will go home. There are no saves left.

CORRECTION to AMERICAN IDOL POST
I made a huge error. I said Matt was in the bottom three of American Idol. Wrong. It was Anoop.
It still should have been Kris.
Sorry about that.
It still should have been Kris.
Sorry about that.
American Idol
Did you know part of the world did not see Adam's total performance or see Simon give him a standing ovation? Tuesday night the show ran long and DVRs weren't set for extra time. ( After missing an ending of AI years ago, we always set our TIVO for 10 minutes more. )
We worried that Adam wouldn't get the votes, how would AI handle it fairly? If he were low would he get an automatic save because of the screw up? Well, he was the first one saved. And they didn't bring up the glitch. So he must have had lots of votes.
And the bottom three: Scott, Matt, and Lil. I can't stand Matt, but he is and was so much better than Kris, who was awful Tuesday. Lil was poor on Tuesday and Scott was boring and just mediocre. Again America put someone there who shouldn't have been, Matt.
Who went home? Scott. He is weaker than the others. No star potential. His blindness was not why he should go home. His blindness kept him on longer than he should have been. There are incredible blind musicians. But they have personality, depth, something extra.
Hopefully Lil received a scare and will up her game. She has just been sliding through.
Adults vote! The Teeny Boppers are putting the cutest in the top. They aren't voting for talent.

AND THEN THERE WERE EIGHT
Our not so secret vise, our guilty pleasure, the American Idol result show was on tonight. Ryan divided the 9 into three groups. We looked at them and it did not look like top, middle, and bottom. There were bad in each group. What's up? Well that is what they did, they had a bad in each group. The bottom three were Megan, Allison, and Anoop. OK two out of three is sort of right.
But Allison? She has been there before. WHY? She is a great rocker. She works the stage. She is great. But she doesn't have the following. She ended up safe. People, you have to vote for this girl. She is special. Do not let her be sent home before boring Scott. I am begging you, VOTE.
We have Megan who is mugging for the cameras. And Anoop. Both had been so bad the night before. Either one would be fine with me to go home. It was Megan. The judges were asked if they would save her if she performed well. They said they would not even bother to consider her again. She was to sing one last time as a farewell, not as a try to be saved.
Thank you America.

American Idol
Well, how did you vote tonight? Did you vote lots of times? People I can't stand did well, some of the really good ones were so so. If Danny goes home and Scott stays I will start a riot! And Chris who we couldn't remember did real well. Matt was not good tonight, and Megan was just bad. Anoop was poor. Song choice, song choice. Lil was very good, Allison looked like a freak but sang well, and then there was ADAM. He is in a class by himself.
Adam, rocker, gay, cross dresser, so not part of flyover land. He is in your face different. He is fabulous! In spite of his rocker star stand out thing, he seems very humble. He honors the orchestra. He thanks people for supporting him. He listens to the criticism and improves himself. Every week we like him more.
I hope you voted for your favorites. Even if they aren't mine, vote. Don't let the teeny boppers take control of the world.

The public is bonkers
The American public is freaking crazy. Last week on American Idol they voted off one of the best singers. And tonight, it was nearly as bad. They announced the bottom three: Michael as I predicted, Scott as I predicted, and Matt. . .wrong oh so wrong. Matt was fabulous on Wednesday. The judges loved him. I don't like him, he looks dirty to me. But the boy can sing, really sing. I give him credit for his talent. We even have voted for him, but I don't like him. If any of that makes sense.
Ryan asked the judges what they thought of the bottom three. And Simon said, Matt and Scott you are there because America doesn't like you. Lots of boos, but that is what it boils down to. Not the best singer usually, but does America like you? But that doesn't explain Adam. He is a rocker, a little edgy, and middle America has to not like him. But he is still there and in the upper part of the vote.
They put the bottom three together and then send back the third highest. We were sure it was Matt, even Michael pointed to Matt. No, it was boring, no personality, mediocre Scott who was safe. He is going to be the Sanjaya of this year. So we have Michael and Matt as the bottom two. Michael went home. Matt is safe to sing next week. I will miss Michael, he always was so happy, kind to the others, and mature. I really hope someone gives him a recording contract. He is good, just not great.
People vote for the ones you like. If you don't vote the teeny boppers have control. And you will have a cute average singer as the winner.

HAIR, WEDDINGS, IDOL
I hate to brag, but today I had a very GOOD HAIR DAY. I knew this going out today. I had a hair cut Tuesday. And today I left the house feeling good. When I leaned out the car window to get my parking ticket, two men standing by the machine said, "Lovely hair." Not good, not great, Lovely. A very special word. In the elevator later two men told me they loved my hair. And then several others told me how great my hair was. I may be a senior citizen, but I still have it from the neck up. Ladies, if you have white or grey hair, go pink or burgundy. Forget the boring blond. Men love pink and burgundy, all races, all ethnic groups.
The clerk from Hell was still making errors today. I didn't deal with her, I just gave the license to one of her supervisors and she handled it. I did a wedding today where I didn't know where to look. Clerk A brought me the license and said the bride almost has on a white dress. I went out to get them. OMG She is a lovely young woman, almost beautiful. But the dress, way too short and too tight. When she sat down the dress did not cover the sitting area. Cheeks hanging out. And the bust, way too tight and the girls were trying to escape, and they almost made it. If the dress had been just one size, well maybe two, bigger it would have been fine.
Tonight Marty and I watched American Idol. The theme was Motown. It is getting really tough to decide who to give your vote. They are all so very good. Even when they mess up they are better than Taylor Hicks who won a couple of years ago. The very very best tonight was Adam. He got rid of the black nail polish, combed his hair back, and wore a suit. He looked very Motown. And he was incredible. He blew everyone away. The judges couldn't say enough good things. Allison was wonderful also. Lil Rounds I thought did great, but the judges didn't think so. My lovely Michael did OK and that is just not good enough at this point.
I think Scott, Michael, and Megan will be in the bottom three. At least they should be. But from last week we know it boils down to how America votes. Tomorrow we will see.

Weddings and Idol
Today was soooooo slow at the marriage factory. I sat from 12:45 until 3:40 without a couple. Then two couples finally showed. And they were so normal, there is nothing to write about. Sorry Noemi.
But tonight we watched the results of American Idol. There were some wrong people in the bottom three. Boring Scott should have been there. Adam ,who I adore, should have been there, he had to have offended everyone in the middle of the country. And my lovely Michael was there.
Michael is so wholesome, cute, and almost really good. He is the weakest link. But he has personality and that is part of being an Idol. He can't last much longer because the others are so much stronger. But he is in the top 10 so should get a recording contract out of this and get out of the oil fields.
Adam, who is an incredible singer, went weird last night. He sang a Johnny Cash song, Ring of Fire, with instruments from India. Not good, but well done. We were really surprised he wasn't in the bottom three. When Middle America heard him they had to have said WTF?
Scott is boring, a weak singer, and blind. And I think his handicap will keep him in longer than he should be. He has no personality, just is a lump. He really needs to show some emotion.
And the girl who went home, Alexis? She is a fabulous singer, entertainer, great looks, and great personality. But she had a bad night, and people didn't get out the vote for her.
And that is what it is all about, who got the vote. As we say in the South, "Vote early and vote often."

I know, too many posts.
Yes, I am posting every 20 minutes. I am so happy to be able to post when I want to. So when I have a thought, no matter how trival, I am there today. I will calm down tomorrow, maybe.
Did you see Idol tonight? Oh my goodness, some of them were really good. And then there was Tatiana. She did sing well, she even looked fairly decent for her. But the judges said no. Of course she fell apart. She cried and like fools the judges consoled her. They told her she will be a recording star, to just hold on, yada yada yada.
I am sorry. So she was kicked off. So were 4 other people. The others smiled, they thanked the public and the judges, and they sat down. It was painfully embarrassing to watch Tatiana do her drama queen sh*t. She is crying with her hands over her face, except no tears. I loved when, I think it was Paula, said you will record and be an actress. Yes, she is an actress.
Thank goodness she is gone. Now on to the normal people.
Did I tell you we love Hell's Kitchen almost at much? Maybe that should be another blog.

AMERICAN IDOL
I confessed several weeks ago that Marty and I love American Idol. We Tivo it and watch it every night it is on. Sometimes it is hours after it shows when we get home. We watch. Which is three times a week right now. That might be a little much. We even vote for our favorites. Well Marty and I decide and he does the repeat dialing to get in to vote.
This week the final 12 are being picked. Nine have been picked by the public. And tonight they are bringing back 8 singers who the public rejected from the top 36. The four judges will pick three wild cards to make up the final 12. Wow that is a lot of numbers.
Anyway, the American public is enraged by one of the 8 picks. (are you keeping up non fans) Tatiana was selected. She is the drama queen, horrible laugher, bad dresser, whiner, crier; she has only one redeeming feature. As much as everyone dislikes her, she can sing. The blogs on AI are full of outrage toward Tatiana.
The bloggers want to know why Tatiana over Ju'not. He is a total package, sings, likable, personality, can talk and chew gum at the same time. There are a couple of other favorites people wanted back. At least it wasn't Nick/Norman. Non fans just don't even worry about this guy.

GUILTY PLEASURE
The shame, the fun, the guilt. It began again tonight. The embarrassing people, the good ones, the harshness of the judges. We can't help ourselves, we are Peeping Toms on the dreams of hundreds if not thousands of singers. We record it with a season pass on not one but both satellite dishes. That is just in case one doesn't record. Tuesdays I don't get home until 9:30, it began at 8:00. We watch it when I get home. TIVO is a great invention.
We love the judges, the good singers, the bad singers. We are addicted. Our guilty pleasure is a Fox show. That in itself is embarrassing.

AMERICAN IDOL began tonight.
